Miss Max | South West Pet Portrait Photography

Last weekend I made a flying trip up to Perth and had the opportunity for a pet portrait session with Max, a gorgeous girl that I have been lucky to photograph usually once or twice a year since she was a pup.  This beautiful girl is absolutely devoted and fiercely loyal to her owners, incredibly intelligent - and like any good working dog - totally focussed on her throw toys!  These are just a few of my favourite photos from her portrait session.  Isn't she gorgeous?

Casting Call: Baby, Child & Teen Portrait Photography Models

April/May 2012

Casting Call for Baby and Child and Teen Portrait Photography Models

As part of my "Fresh Faces" campaign I am looking for enthusiastic and photogenic children to participate in a relaxed and fun 1-2 hour (depending on age) portrait photography session at an outdoor location at your home or park in or around Boyup Brook*.

Age Groups Required:

  • One girl and one boy aged approx 6-9 months (must be sitting independently but not yet walking)
  • Two boys and girls between 3 and 8 years
  • Teenage girl 13-17 years
  • One multiple sibling family from the same age groups.

As thankyou for your participation, the normal session fee of $100.00 will be waived and you will also receive six watermarked web resolution photographs for sharing by email or on facebook ($60.00 value). There is no obligation to purchase prints although you may do so at 25% off normal prices for individual prints.

Requirements:

Each Casting Call session will be conducted just like a paid Portrait Session which involves a significant time investment for me for each session of between 8 and 13+ hours.  Therefore to achieve my goal for these sessions I do have some requirements for participants.

I am specifically looking for kids with spirited and fun filled personalities who can still listen to directions and feel comfortable in front of the camera.

Neat casual "going out" clothes and appearance is essential. Sessions are to be held within the next four weeks, most sessions will be held on weekdays.   Parent/guardian must sign a full model release for print/internet marketing materials and be able to travel to a location close to Boyup Brook (*Further travel is possible but travel fees may apply). No former modelling experience required.

Although not a requirement, I would truly appreciate you spreading the word about my portrait photography business to your family and friends and have a new referral program that rewards you with a $20.00 Print Credit for every new client you refer.

How To Apply:

Please email me or send a message through Facebook with the following details:

  • Title: Casting Call Submission
  • Child/rens Name
  • Child/rens Age
  • A brief description of your child’s personality
  • How they behave in front of the camera
  • Why you would like to be included in the "Fresh Faces" campaign
  • A recent photo snapshot

My Baby's Growing up! | Pet Portrait Photography

We all know how quickly babies grow up, but at least with human babies you get a little longer to savour the sweet moments of their little-ness!  Puppies on the other hand grow like weeds and it dosn't take long before they loose their cute puppy look.

Of course if they are anything like our two little monsters, they are not always cute an adorable and its right about now (4-6 months of age) when you start wishing they would hurry up and outgrow their puppy naughtiness.  Like putting a hole in your leather boots.  Or chewing the legs of schleich toys that were left laying around.  Not to mention the selective deafness when you are trying to rescue yet another shoe/toy/remote control from the puppy jaws of death.

Has anyone else worked out that baby animals, especially puppies, are cute for a reason?  That reason is so you melt when those big brown eyes look up at you instead of getting angry because they have emptied the garbage bin (again) and have just stolen and eaten a box of biscuits for the third time this week.

Lucky for these two, I can see glimpses of the incredible adult dogs that they will grow into.  Freckles and Ryley (while most definitely being double trouble) are also the most mature and intelligent pups that I have ever had (after having a few working dogs over the years, that is really saying something!).

As i've mentioned before, these pups are from very strong working lines, but also from succesful trialling parents - which in theory should make them excellent working dogs that are also very biddable. Both pups were switched on to sheep (unexpectedly and very unusually) at about five weeks of age. The first week after we bought them home, I was extremely worried that we were going to end up with at least one chicken killer.  Our chickens live in a dog proof enclosure, but every now and then a wayward chicken escapes, much to the puppies delight (Ryley especially).  After rounding up the wayward chicken, Ryley would grab hold of it, very gently, but these things have a way of not ending well for the chicken.  A week and some gentle discipline later, Ryley worked out that mouthing chickens makes mum very unhappy but splatting the chicken to the ground with both front paws might be a better option (in his mind not the chickens).

All I can say is that its lucky puppies are so cute.

No chickens were hurt thankfully (they didn't learn to stay in their safe enclosure either) and we have now progressed onto the next stage of training where Ryley is helping me move the Dexter calf to and from his yard for the night (he is seperated so that I can milk Charlotte in the morning).  Absolutely nothing phases this boy, he is one tuff little cookie who is definitely going to give our dorper sheep a run for their money.

2011 The Awesome Pawsome | South West Pet Photography

When we welcomed our first Border Collie, Taj, to our family we were warned that they are addictive. It didn't take us long to work out the only thing better than one border collie... was two border collies. Which means of course that the only thing better than two border collies is four border collies!

I thought I'd share some shots I took yesterday evening of Taj, Trinity, Bolt and Zeke (collectively known as The Awesome Pawsome)
