Portrait Paintings

In addition to my skills as a photographer, I am a multi-award winning traditional artist with over thirty years experience working with a variety of traditional art mediums including graphite, charcoal, pastels, colour pencil acrylic and oil paints.  I am very pleased to be able to offer my clients a unique opportunity that very few photographers in Australia are able to offer - an original hand drawn charcoal drawing or a painted portrait created personally by me that you will be proud to display in your home and pass on to future generations.

Traditional Graphite Pencil and Charcoal Sketches:

Traditional black and white pencil sketches are an elegant alternative to full colour portraits, and can be drawn in a range of sizes. Graphite pencil and charcoal portraits require less time to complete than portraits in other art mediums and are an affordable option, especially for pet portraits.

Portrait Paintings

I use exactly the same skills and techniques developed through years of working with traditional art mediums to create my portrait paintings using a digital canvas and paintbrush via a sophisticated, real medium emulation software, a pressure sensitive graphics tablet (the canvas) and an electronic stylus (paintbrush). The process of digital portrait painting is remarkably similar to using traditional art mediums - these paintings take many days to complete, and are NOT computer generated by a few clicks of a mouse, nor are they mere Photoshop "effects" or "filters" as offered by the majority of other photographers, nor do I farm the work out to Chinese sweatshops. I draw heavily on my experience with traditional art mediums to create digital paintings, from the initial sketch to the final composition, colour selection and unique brush strokes that identifies my artwork as my own, irrespective of which medium I create with.
